Module 7 – Waste Management and how to Prevent the Spread of Infection

• 7.1 What are the different categories of waste and what risks do they pose
• 7.2 Describe how to dispose of different types of waste
• 7.3 Explain how waste should be stored before collection
• 7.4 identify any legal responsibilities with waste management
• 7.5 How and where are used sharps stored and explain how to reduce the risk of a sharps injury
• 7.6 Explain the procedure if you sustain a needle stick injury

Qualification information

On successful completion of all the modules, learners will receive the ‘Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection’. This is an OFQUAL Regulated qualification issued by ‘Gatehouse Awards (GA)’.

The Gatehouse Awards (GA) Registration Fee of £40.00 and the Skin College Processing (SCP) Fee of £20.00 are payable separately as they are VAT exempt.
